The Athletic Trainer/Fitness Center Coordinator has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, developing, coordinating, and administering a comprehensive sports medical program for college intercollegiate sports. The Athletic Trainer/Fitness Center Coordinator will also perform professional and administrative services essential for the successful implementation and development of the program and supervises the Fitness Center. This exempt position reports to the Athletic Director.
Minimum Qualifications:Education/Experience:
- Master’s degree from an accredited university
- NATA BOC Certification
- One – two years of professional experience in a similar position, including graduate work
- Eligibility to take Texas LAT Exam
Skills/Abilities:
- Must possess a high level of communication skills
- Ability to create, evaluate and document procedures
- Ability to plan, schedule, and manage projects and assignments
- Ability to solve problems and multi-task
Physical Requirements:
Some tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort, but typically also involving some combination of sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-25 pounds). Task may involve extended periods of standing or walking. Frequent travel. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Must be available to work a varied schedule to include extensive night and weekend workSALARY :

Essential Job Functions:Develop strength and conditioning programs for student athletes and individual programs for participants of the Fitness Center
Essential Job Functions:Provide athletic training services for the College’s athletic department, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions as necessary
Essential Job Functions:Coordinate and schedule physical examinations and medical referrals for student-athletes to determine their ability to practice and compete
Essential Job Functions:Establish and maintain a professional network with the college and high school Athletic trainers, as well as with college and high school strength coaches of Southeast Texas; Establish continuing education opportunities for Southeast Texas
Essential Job Functions:Supervise strength and conditioning staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition and conditioning programs customized to meet individual student-athlete needs
Essential Job Functions:Schedule and coordinate athlete training staff and students for coverage of all team practices and athletic competitions
