The Department of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of cancer biology and molecular pharmacology relevant to radiopharmaceutical imaging and therapy, especially in the areas of cancer therapy targeted to DNA damage repair (DDR) and immunotherapy. In addition to this expertise and experience, a background and prior experience in molecular imaging and radiopharmaceutical therapy will be significant for the position and is expected. Expertise and experience in translational research are also key requirements. Training in biomedical science or a related field, together with at least 3 years of postdoctoral research experience, is required. In addition, a track record of funding and project leadership as a postdoctoral fellow or other postdoctoral position is preferred. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include leading both collaborative and independent research in the areas of cancer biology and molecular pharmacology relevant to molecular cancer imaging and radiopharmaceutical therapy. Research topics will include the development of relevant pre-clinical models, pre-clinical testing of novel radiopharmaceuticals for cancer imaging and therapy, and translational research to support early human trials with a focus on DDR and immune targets independently or in combination. Over time, the research program may expand to a larger portfolio of topics in relevance to novel approaches to cancer therapy of relevance to radiopharmaceutical imaging and therapy.

Research in identifying factors contributing to cancer disparities is encouraged. Importantly, experience in grant writing and prior success in obtaining grant funding is an asset, as is an established track record of conference and peer-reviewed publications. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in independent and collaborative research settings, and experience in mentoring trainees.

The successful candidate will work in the Research Division of the Department of Radiology and will also be a part of the Department's PET Center research core. In addition to other faculty in the Research Division, the successful candidate will collaborate with faculty in the Division of Nuclear Medicine Imaging and Therapy and with cancer research in other Penn departments and the Abramson Cancer Center. The successful candidate will develop a leadership role independent and collaborative research in translational biology relevant to cancer radiopharmaceutical imaging and therapy.
