Description
A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking a full-time exempt Coordinator for the National Center for American Indian Health Professions (NCAIHP) on the Mesa, Arizona campus. The NCAIHP Coordinator will report to the Chief Diversity Officer.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to forward University diversity initiatives by planning and implementing programs and activities (e.g., PAW, SAID, Dreamline Pathways, GPS, and etc.) for the NCAIHP.
  • Serve as a recruitment specialist in ATSU residential and Online programs and submit monthly recruitment updates.
  • Prepare assessment reports in support of University diversity initiatives.
  • Remain current on admissions requirements, retention, and graduation statistics for all ATSU schools.
  • Attend local, regional and national recruitment fairs and events targeting AI/AN students to increase ATSU's AI/AN admission's pipeline.
  • Help provide cultural awareness across the University regarding American Indian and Alaska Native students and the need for more healthcare providers for the AI/AN populations.
  • The Coordinator serves as the secretary for the NCAIHP Advisory Council.
  • Assists with development and dissemination of annual pre-health advisor materials.
  • Assists with regularly reviewing and updating the website and social media channels.
  • Facilitate cultural proficiency education sessions (e.g., Safe Zone For All, and etc.).
  • Serve as a diversity department liaison to student life, campus diversity committees, and academic affairs.
  • Nurture relationships with local, regional, and national tribal affiliations.
  • Create a network that supports the recruitment of American Indian and Alaskan Native (AI/AN) students
  • Serve as the PAW program advisor and primary support person for the SAID student organization's national SAID conferences.
  • Serve as a program advisor for GPS through regular communication with scholarship recipients.
  • Plan and support visits to the ATSU campuses by AI/AN individuals and groups
  • Assist with shadowing opportunities for AI/AN program participants
  • Assist with procuring and monitoring grant opportunities that would support ATSU AI/AN pathway programs
  • Support currently enrolled AI/AN students by connecting them to university support resources and monitor "at risk" students
  • Assist with the develop and monitoring of programs for ATSU AI/AN alumni to support all ATSU-NCAIHP initiatives
  • Assist with coordinating marketing and admission's materials (print, web, social media, presentation, ads, promotional branded items, etc.) for NCAIHP.
  • Provide leadership and coordination for diversity programs/activities which support the University mission as determined by the diversity department. This work includes, but isn't limited to, recruitment and admission's activities, writing reports, creating making presentations, coordinating campus events, and grant writing.
Requirements
The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of trends in diversity training and historical references with a college degree and more detailed knowledge about American Indian culture and historical frameworks that undermine academic success. Must be organized, work well with diverse populations, have strong oral presentation skills, strong written communication skills, be able to work well on own and with groups, and be self-motivated. The candidate must be comfortable with traditional and non traditional college students, college advisors, faculty, staff, and alumni. Must enjoy travel and be able to travel on weekends. The candidate will stand for extended periods of time at career fairs and will need to be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Higher Education, Political Science, Anthropology, Business, etc.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of related experience including presentation skills, grant writing, and report writing.
  • Effectively and successfully represent ATSU, NCAIHP, and Admissions to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Seasoned traveller: MUST be able to travel domestically; be able to rent a car; comfortable traveling in remote locations.
  • Strong personal/people skills, strong listener, critical thinker, ability to effectively communicate with individuals and groups from various ethnic backgrounds, confident and respectful.
  • Experience and knowledge of American Indian populations is required.
