Job Responsibilities

Welding InstructorTo serve as instructor for the College, including duties of teaching, developing materials, advising students, and providing assistance to the administrationthrough committees and other activities.
Responsibilities of Welding Instructor

Present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process through multi-modalities and laboratory environments.

Develop, revise and maintain current instructional materials including lesson plans, lab projects, through course objectives, outlines, appropriate instructional materials and methods. Demonstrate and provide professional effective classroom management and control, maintain safety and current lab experience and equipment, provide timely and accurate reports supporting the collegiate learning environment.

Participate in assisting students in personal and professional development.

Effective use of required office hours and professional student advising for student completion.

Participate in college activities and the promotion of NETC through service.

Participate in activities designed to develop professional skills to maintain and improve job proficiency.

All other duties assigned by the Dean of Workforce and Continuing Education.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Associate Degree in Welding with five (5) years of welding experience or one (1) year Diploma in Welding and eight (8) or more years welding experience and working towards an Associate Degree. Must be proficient in ARC, MIG, TIG, Flux Core, Pipe welding (high pressure), Gas welding and Gas and plasma cutting. Preferred requirements: AWS Certified Welding Inspector and teaching experience preferred. Drivers license required.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of principles and procedures pertaining to higher education. Knowledge and/or work experience. Knowledge of standard business practices and accepted protocol for areas of responsibility. Knowledge of college mission, goals and objectives and ability to relate these to areas of responsibility. Ability to supervise and coordinate the activities of a professional level staff; establish good working relationships with alumni, businesses, students, faculty and others. Ability to interpret and apply all related laws. Demonstration of teaching abilities. Employee will receive minimal supervision in the performance of teaching and advising responsibilities; employee is expected to demonstrate independence and discretion in teaching practice and student advising.

Additional Comments

The teaching environment includes classroom and lab, requiring local travel to business/industry and community campuses and some short term travel may be required for professional meetings. Professional Development may require some overnight stays. Teaching locations include partner High Schools, State, Federal and Juvenile Correction facilities, community campuses, and industry partners.

Normal Schedule for most positions

Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a one (1) hour lunch and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. no lunch

Spring Break Week, June, July, and two (2) weeks in December

Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a 30 minute lunch Fridays Off

NETC is a qualified employer for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time at NETC.
