Responsibilities of Welding Instructor
Associate Degree in Welding with five (5) years of welding experience or one (1) year Diploma in Welding and eight (8) or more years welding experience and working towards an Associate Degree. Must be proficient in ARC, MIG, TIG, Flux Core, Pipe welding (high pressure), Gas welding and Gas and plasma cutting. Preferred requirements: AWS Certified Welding Inspector and teaching experience preferred. Drivers license required.
Knowledge of principles and procedures pertaining to higher education. Knowledge and/or work experience. Knowledge of standard business practices and accepted protocol for areas of responsibility. Knowledge of college mission, goals and objectives and ability to relate these to areas of responsibility. Ability to supervise and coordinate the activities of a professional level staff; establish good working relationships with alumni, businesses, students, faculty and others. Ability to interpret and apply all related laws. Demonstration of teaching abilities. Employee will receive minimal supervision in the performance of teaching and advising responsibilities; employee is expected to demonstrate independence and discretion in teaching practice and student advising.
The teaching environment includes classroom and lab, requiring local travel to business/industry and community campuses and some short term travel may be required for professional meetings. Professional Development may require some overnight stays. Teaching locations include partner High Schools, State, Federal and Juvenile Correction facilities, community campuses, and industry partners.
