Job Summary

The Institutional Data Analyst is responsible for gathering data; preparing reports; analyzing data, statistics, and related functions and for using web-based reporting systems to improve data access and analysis for college leadership, academic support units, state and federal agencies, and other stakeholders; maintaining a calendar of regular data reports; responding to ad hoc requests for data and information; and creating standard reports from a variety of sources utilizing appropriate technology.

This position is funded through September 2029, continuation of this position is dependent on continued funding beyond this date.

Minimum annual salary $58,300 based on education and experience.

Responsibilities

Data Analytics and Reporting (75%)

  • Develops, maintains, and updates queries, reports, and dashboards to fulfill recurring data needs for internal and external reporting requirements.

  • Creates and presents reports and data sets to support timely decision-making for campus programs and initiatives.

  • Designs and maintains web survey instruments and performs online reporting.

  • Prepares and presents oral and written presentations of data findings.

  • Provides training and support to others regarding the planning, analyzing, and reporting processes to be used in research.

  • Participates in professional development activities and in campus meetings and serves on committees as required.

Grant Support 10%

  • Researches, analyzes, compiles and presents complex data from a variety of sources in order to communicate and reinforce difficult concepts and to communicate large amounts of quantifiable data for grant proposals. Data is presented in a variety of formats such as graphs, maps, charts, illustrations, tables, diagrams, flow charts, plain text and other formats as needed

  • Maintains the necessary records, files, reports, databases and resource material pertinent to grants office activities to ensure effective Grants Office operation and compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

Accreditation and Regulatory Support 10%

  • Works with academic programs and administrative units to develop and enhance data collection, storage, and analysis strategies supporting assessment.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
- Master's degree in a course of study related to the occupational field or equivalent related progressive work experience.

Required Experience
- Two or more years of relevant experience.
- Experience using SQL for querying databases.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with business intelligence platforms, preferably PowerBI and/or Argos.
- Two or more years of prior Institutional Research experience in higher education.

KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of or ability to learn, follow, and enforce college policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of data management systems, preferably Ellucian Banner.
- Thorough knowledge of higher education institutional research reporting practices.
- Abilities in relational database development/administration, data warehousing, data analysis, and database design.
- Working knowledge of presentation and word processing software, preferably Microsoft Office applications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
