Unit Mission Statement:The Center for Gifted Education is a learning community that values and fosters the talent development process and optimal functioning of high-ability individuals over their life span.
Position Summary:The Residence Life Advisors for the various residential Precollegiate Programs through the Center for Gifted Education are responsible for the day-to-day supervision, guidance, and safety of all co- and extra-curricular activities of the attending campers. Reporting to the Assistant Director and the Director of Precollegiate Learner Programs at William & Mary, advisors provide direct supervision for attending students, 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the residential program.
Conditions of Employment:Camp Launch and Camp Orbit Residence Life Advisors will be required to live in the dorms from July 14, 2025, through July 25, 2025.
The Optimist Project Residence Life Advisors will be required to live in the dorms from June 26, 2025 through July 9, 2025.
Camp Ignite Residence Life Advisors will be required to live in the dorms from June 18, 2025 through July 2, 2025.
This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.
This position is a temporary (hourly) position not to exceed 6 months. All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed on average 29 hours per week, over the course of a twelve-month period beginning May 1 each year.
