Unit Mission Statement:The Center for Gifted Education is a learning community that values and fosters the talent development process and optimal functioning of high-ability individuals over their life span.
Position Summary:The On-Site Assistant Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations and logistics of all curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities of the program. This person will report to the Director of Precollegiate Learner Programs at William and Mary, and work closely with the Administrative Operations Specialist and camp staff to ensure that the infrastructure is in place to support all aspects of the program. The Assistant Coordinators will be required to live in the dorms during the respective program.
Conditions of Employment:Required to live in the dorms for the duration of the program.
The Optimist Project On-Site Coordinators will be required to live in the dorms from June 26, 2025 through July 9, 2025.
The Camp Launch and Camp Orbit On-Site Coordinators will be required to live in the dorms from July 11, 2025, through July 25, 2025.
Camp Ignite: June 18 – July 2, 2025.
This position is a temporary (hourly) position not to exceed 6 months. All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed on average 29 hours per week, over the course of a twelve-month period beginning May 1 each year.
This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.
This is a restricted position, subject to the continued availability of funding.

Required Qualifications:- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to work and multitask effectively in a complex and fast-paced setting
- Demonstrated ability to be well-organized
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills
- College graduate or graduate student
- Experience working with K-12 students
- Ability to drive a golf cart (completed W&M golf cart training)
