Position Overview

Starting Salary Range is $36,358 - $40,914. The initial salary offer is commensurate with education and related work experience.

Under the supervision of the Director of Reentry Services, the Full-Time Administrative Assistant will assist with data entry for student support, alumni services, and surveys. The data entry will largely consist of maintaining and updating resources and employer lists relevant to the needs of the Lee College Huntsville Center's (LCHC) alumni. In addition, the Administrative Assistant will also assist with providing typed, written responses to mail to LCHC students and expanding the alumni network through phone, email, and social media contact.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Enter and code data from student surveys into Excel.
  • Assist in the administration of student surveys both inside and outside the prison.
  • Maintain and update felony-friendly employer resources list.
  • Expand alumni network through phone, email, and social media engagement with LCHC alumni.
  • Update and maintain web-based alumni networking platform.
  • Update and maintain LCHC alumni contact information.
  • Assist with LCHC alumni outreach via social media.
  • Submit marketing and printing requests.
  • Assist with event planning for a variety of student and alumni activities.
  • Maintain the schedule, calendar, and task lists of Reentry obligations such as classroom presentations, reentry courses, conference presentations, speaking engagements, etc.


  • Additional Duties & Responsibilities


  • Answer student mail in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties assigned.


  • Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
  • Six (6) months of related work experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
  • Able to navigate social media platforms.
  • Must be aware of and sensitive to cultural differences with ability to work with and engage individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Able to meet deadlines and work independently.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Must provide excellent customer service.
  • Able to maintain effective working relations with college personnel and outside entities.
  • Act with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Candidates must pass a criminal background check by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ)
  • Preferred:
    • Associate's (or higher) degree
    • Previous experience with incarceration and/or the formerly incarcerated
    • Experience in higher education
