POSITION TITLE: Student Employee, International Student Services
STATUS: Part time
DEPARTMENT: International Student Services
DIVISION: Center for Multicultural Access and Success
REPORTS TO: Michelle Vale
CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt
HIRING RANGE: $15.00 per hour
(Position is FWS Eligible)
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Welcome students, staff, faculty, and community members to the International Student Services/Center for Multicultural Access and Success office.
2. Answer phones, take messages, and deliver to appropriate staff.
3. Schedule student appointments.
4. Create visual displays, flyers, posters, etc. to market upcoming programs and events.
5. Provide front desk coverage, particularly during staff breaks or absences.
6. Help staff the Center for Multicultural Access and Success information table at college events, such as transfer orientations or Discover JJC.
7. Assist in maintaining and organizing important student files and keep them in order. Pull files for staff members, as needed.
8. Print documents for staff and organize them for review.
9. Answer any general questions that visitors or students may have about International Student Services and the processes/services the department provides.
10. Perform related other duties as assigned.
11. Confidentiality of student information is required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. GPA of 2.0 or above.
2. Must be enrolled at JJC in at least 6 credit hours.
3. High School diploma or equivalent.
4. Excellent Customer Service skills
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
6. Attentiveness to detail, excellent organizational skills, initiative, and multitasking.
7. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community.
8. Demonstrated multicultural competence.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
2. Proficiency in a second language.
3. Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Canva experience also preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Office organization/clean-up will require the ability to kneel on the floor and/or bend at the waist.
2. Ability to lift and move equipment.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: This is a student employee position that works around your class schedule. May work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. During summer and holiday breaks (Winter/Spring), may work up to 28 hours per week with supervisor approval.
