The Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and the Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre are inviting applications for the position of Academic Imaging Cardiologist. This full-time appointment will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto with a position description as a Clinician Teacher, Clinician Investigator or Clinician in Quality and Innovation at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. It is expected that the position will be 50-75% clinical and 25-50% related to research, teaching, quality improvement initiatives, and/or administrative duties. Expected start date is September 1, 2025, or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.

The successful candidate must have level 3 certification in echocardiography and additional advanced fellowship training and experience in multi-modality imaging (CT, MRI, interventional echo). Certification as proof will be expected.

Candidates with broad clinical, teaching, quality improvement and research experience will be considered. Quality improvement excellence will be assessed by the presence of dissemination of successful practices, significant invited presentations, awards, accolades and other related accomplishments. Teaching experience will be measured by the presence of a strong track record of interests and excellence in resident and fellow education, formal training in teaching methodology, awards, leadership as a clinical educator and other relevant experience. Research excellence will be assessed by the presence of research grants, publications in leading journals, invited presentations at significant conferences, awards, accolades and other related accomplishments.

The successful applicant will join the Division of Cardiology, one of the largest divisions within the Department of Medicine with 21 full-time and 24 part-time community cardiologists. As a major provider of tertiary and quaternary cardiac services and leader in less invasive structural heart interventions, the Division of Cardiology serves as a regional cardiac referral center for many complex cardiac procedures. Responsibilities will include excellence in clinical care of both in-patients and out-patients, liaison with primary care, supervision of trainees in clinical care setting, formal teaching and scholarly achievements. The primary location of practice will be Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center at 2075 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, Canada.

The successful candidate must hold an MD degree; have or be eligible for certification in Cardiology/Internal Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and have or be eligible for licensure to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The candidate must be able to function proficiently in English.

Estimated remuneration will be in the range of $300,000-$400,000 (fee-for-service estimate) commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered. The candidate will be able to participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans. Relocation expenses may be provided.
