PLACEMENT: Placement on salary schedule is dependent on qualifications.
HIRING RANGE: Qualifications include education and related work experience.

POSITION SUMMARY
Adapt to new and changing situations and demonstrate a positive attitude. Demonstrate respect for students; understand learning styles and apply understanding to institution-related activities; demonstrate integrity and promote diversity and open communications. Fifteen credit hours a semester constitute a standard load. Course assignments may be late afternoon, evening, Saturday, and/or at branch campuses. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To have and maintain a thorough knowledge of his/her subject matter and to keep informed of growth and developments in his/her field for the purpose of continually improving the delivery of instruction to the student population.
2. Teach assigned courses.
3. Work closely with other instructors and special programs and services within the college to determine placements, curriculum, and academic support.
4. Participate in course development, assessment, accreditation, and planning activities.
5. Be willing to teach online and/or hybrid courses.
6. Participate in appropriate departmental meetings and recruitment activities; serve on committees.
7. Serve as Music Technology Coordinator.
8. Oversee Recording Studio.
9. Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning.
10. Demonstrate strong understanding and commitment to the community college mission.
11. Teach at other campus sites as needed.
12. Meet other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.
13. Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master’s Degree in Music or Master’s in Music Technology or Master’s in Music with 18 plus of graduate hours in music technology.
2. Two (2) years of teaching experience.
3. Experience in teaching music technology courses.
4. Experience with major digital audio software (DAW) programs such as Pro Tools and Logic.
5. Experience and interest in performance on a musical instrument, both on and off campus.
6. The ability to guide students through the internship process as they work with industry professionals.
7. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
8. Demonstrated commitment to the college’s core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience in teaching online/hybrid formats and using course learning management programs.
2. Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
3. Expertise in appropriate technologies for instruction.
4. Experience teaching at a community college.
5. Experience using publisher online resources such as homework and testing software.
6. Experience using video conferencing tools such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
7. Experience with additional software programs such as Ableton Live, FL Studio, Finale, and Sibelius.
8. Employment experience in the music production/business industry beyond academia.
9. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
10. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

1. Duties are performed indoors in the usual classroom teaching environment.
2. Duties are performed indoors in the remote teaching environment.
