Job Summary: The Assistant Vice President Enterprise Services provides executive leadership, management, and administrative and fiscal oversight of the enterprise operations function of the University.

Additional Department Summary: Provides the strategic vision’s direction and leadership for all activities of Enterprise Services consisting of the following departments: Bryant Conference Center, Printing Services, Transportation Services, contracted services, including Capstone Learning Academy, Residential Hall Laundry Services, Wash and Fold Services, Cable Television Services, and Campus Vending. The Assistant Vice President leads, directs and supports these Enterprise Services Departments.

Works in partnership with direct reports and the other Enterprise Services Directors on the planning, programming, and monitoring of Enterprise Services related construction projects. Assists in developing the information for the business plans on proposed projects to be presented to the Board of Trustees.

Represents Enterprise Services and oversees Gameday planning and operations for football, sporting events, and for special events such as Commencement, Bama Bound, and Residence Hall Move-in as to Enterprise Services activities and involvement in each event. Responsible for overseeing Enterprise Services Gameday activities and is on campus for football Gamedays, sporting events, and other events. Serves as the lead person for inquiries regarding Enterprise Services Gameday Operations and other special events.

Meets, consults, and interacts with directors, architects, engineers, designers, UA Design and Furnishings, UA Construction Administration, and general contractors in reviewing plans and drawings as well as overseeing budgets for new construction and renovations projects. Reviews construction progress regularly. Communicates and consults with Risk Management on all safety concerns.

Reviews monthly and annual financials of Enterprise Services Departments associated with direct reports including budget information, payroll information, and construction projects. Assists each Director in developing and preparing annual salaries budget and annual budget for each department.

Manages and is actively involved with the Request for Proposals (RFP) process for assigned Enterprise Services Departments. Represents Enterprise Services in contract negotiations with vendors. Maintains close working relationship with vendors and with UA Procurement on contracts and contract issues, challenges and opportunities.

Manages the coordination of human resources, planning, assessment and budgeting functions for Enterprise Services Departments under direct reports. Supervises, interviews, hires, and coaches as well as conducts evaluations of direct reports as required by the UA Human Resources Department.

As determined, creates and executes special presentations to Higher Administration, Faculty, Staff and Student Groups enhancing quality public and professional relations relative to Enterprise Services’ mission, goals and objectives for the units supervised.

Ability to work outside of normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and other situations as needed.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible management and leadership experience, including people and operations management and a minimum five (5) years experience in higher education and working knowledge of Auxiliary Services functions; OR master’s and thirteen (13) years of progressively responsible management and leadership experience, including people and operations management and a minimum five (5) years experience in and working knowledge of Auxiliary Services functions.

Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Ability to work outside of normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and other situations as needed.

Skills and Knowledge: Excellent communication and project management skills. Financial management knowledge, including oversight of multimillion-dollar budgets and contracts.

Preferred Qualifications: Prefer experience with construction projects and/or working with those who oversee construction projects to ensure the business needs are met. Strong problem-solving skills, an ability to collaborate with internal customers and external stakeholders, and a proven track record of working with teams to achieve common goals.
