The Office of Development (OOD) advances Stanfordâs mission by raising philanthropic support from alumni, parents, families, friends, and institutional funders. Working in concert with volunteers and academic leaders, OOD staff members strive to accelerate Stanfordâs purposeful impact in the world. The School of Humanities and Sciences (H&S) is the center of a world-class liberal arts research and teaching at Stanford University. The largest school encompassing the humanities, arts, social sciences, and natural sciences, H&S has 24 departments and 25 interdisciplinary programs, and it is the university's home for fundamental and applied research. In addition, the school is the locus of several collaborative university-wide initiatives. The H&S External Relations team is fully integrated into Stanford Office of Development and is focused on taking a donor-centered approach to raising gifts in support of core school priorities.
Position Summary:
H&S is seeking an experienced candidate to join their development team as the Director of Development. Reporting to the Associate Dean for External Relations, the Director of Development will help lead development efforts and execution of campaign activities and fundraising goals for the school. The Director of Development will oversee major gifts, annual and leadership giving and the administration and operations.As a senior member of the External Relations team, the Director of Development will also be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors at the major and principal gifts levels.
In coordination with the Associate Dean, the Director of Development will manage planning and implementation of fundraising strategies for the school, while also handling their own portfolio. The successful candidate will operate independently and take responsibility for the teamâs prospect identification and solicitation, proposal development, and coordination of internal support activities. The candidate will also work with staff, donors, volunteers, faculty, and other university staff to assist in establishing and maintaining relationships with all university constituencies.

Bachelor's degree and eight years of relevant experience and management experience, preferably in an educational institution or nonprofit or a combination of education and relevant experience.

The expected pay range for this position is $162,653 â $211,154 per annum.
