The Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs at Brown University invites applications for a Financial Coordinator.
The Financial Coordinator, reporting to the Senior Financial Coordinator, processes financial transactions for the Watson Institute including its centers, initiatives, programs and projects (CIPs). The Financial Coordinator is responsible for initiating and monitoring the financial transactions including grant transactions in Workday. This position is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of, interpreting, and applying, applicable University policies. This position will be customer-focused and responsive to requests as they arise. The Financial Coordinator has a comprehensive understanding of the Institute’s programs and services and the processes and resources required to support the Institute.
Major Responsibilities:
The Financial Coordinator is responsible for initiating and monitoring grant transactions for Watson and its centers and programs. This position works closely with the grants managers and follows their guidance on appropriate expenditures for the specific grants.
The Financial Coordinator ensures applicable University spending guidelines and policies are followed.
The Financial Coordinator is responsible for initiating and monitoring the transactions for the Watson Institute and its centers, initiatives, programs and projects (CIPs).
Among the responsibilities are processing visitor travel reimbursements, creating requisitions and purchase orders, compiling Professional Service Agreements, supplier registration forms, and guest speaker forms.
This position assigns appropriate worktags to transactions to enhance budgets to actuals reporting.
Tracks and assists with the coordination of major contract services.
Processes vendor payments and journal entries.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Advanced knowledge and experience with Excel required.
Must be detail oriented and have the ability to analyze and reconcile accounts.
Initiative and ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Customer service experience with a strong service-minded philosophy.
Strong organizational and time management skills required.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work in a deadline driven environment and manage multiple priorities.
