Job Details
The Department of History, Philosophy, & Geography seeks applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, non-tenure-track appointment in History beginning in Fall 2025. Area of specialization is open, but an ability to teach introductory U.S. History courses is required. The successful candidate will teach both halves of the U.S. History Survey, and will be expected to teach Dual Credit/Early College High School students enrolled in those courses. The base teaching load at A&M-SA is 5/5. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Required Education and Experience:
M.A. required in history or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution by the time of appointment.
A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in history.
University teaching experience commensurate with the rank of Lecturer.
Availability to teach in-person classes.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Ph.D. preferred in history or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution by the time of appointment.
Prior experience teaching Dual Credit/Early College High School students.

Approaches to teaching students from different backgrounds, including first-generation college students and Dual Credit/Early College High School students.

Finalists must request at least three current letters of recommendation to be sent directly by the author to the Search Committee Chair, via USPS or email delivery. If selected, finalists must pass a pre-employment background investigation to be hired.
Official transcripts must be on file with the Office of the Provost, and sent directly from each degree-granting institution to Texas A&M University-San Antonio at the address listed below. We cannot accept transcripts issued directly to the candidate. If transcripts are from an international institution, it is the responsibility of the prospective faculty member to have the transcripts translated and evaluated by an approved credential evaluator (e.g., AACRAO; http://www.aacrao.org/credential/index.htm).
