Position Eclass:GF - Graduate Flat Pay
Position Summary:The term Graduate Assistant is the umbrella term that encompasses all types of GA appointments. Graduate Assistants are employed by the University to teach, conduct research, or assist with administrative duties in departments and non-academic units. Every attempt is made to assign Graduate Assistants to positions that are directly related to the student’s field of study or that provide the opportunity to develop transferable, professional skills. Graduate Assistantships are assigned in the department or unit and confirmed by the Graduate School.
Additional Details:The Graduate School is hiring for the 2025-2026 academic year with the potential for summer work. This position is in-person in the office.
This position reports directly to the Recruitment and Admissions department within the Graduate School.
Job Description-Job Duties and/or Responsibilities:
· Engaging with prospective students on GradSchoolMatch.com· Responding to emails and texts from prospective students· Sending Accepted Student notecards· Contacting prospective students by phone (Slate Voice)· Contacting admitted students via phone (Slate Voice) who have not given their intent to enroll or are undecided· Contacting admitted students to see if they have any questions, would like to schedule a tour, and/or letting them know we are excited for them to attend UNCG.· Sharing program information and answering questions or following up with students regarding specific program information.· Build relationships with assigned Graduate Program Director’s in order to gather information on their recruitment initiatives, advising/registration timeline, and program events.· Provide recruitment support to assigned programs.· Provide campus tours to perspective graduate applicants and newly admitted graduate students.· Process incoming and outgoing mail.· Download transcripts and upload into the application system, Slate.
Work Hours/Environment :
Graduate Program Ambassadors (GPAs) work 20 hours per week for the Graduate School. GPAs are provided their own workspace within the office and this position will have access to technology and tools necessary for creative projects and logistics. GPAs are provided a $16,000 stipend (August 1-April 30) with the opportunity to work during summer for additional stipend. Tuition support is provided as part of the assistantship.
To be eligible for appointments as a graduate assistant, you must:
• Maintain academic good standing at all times (3.0).
• Be enrolled full-time, which is generally a minimum of 9 credits.
• Make satisfactory progress toward your degree as defined by your academic program and the Graduate School.
• Meet the requirements to be eligible for employment in the U.S.
