Description
The Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) invites applications for a full-time academic clinical track position at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor level. This appointment is effective immediately.
The position involves the education of post graduate students in the Certificate in Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Pediatric Dentistry. Responsibilities include didactic and clinical instruction in all aspects of pediatric dentistry related to specialist training. The Pediatric Dental Department has three community-affiliated sites within the city of Boston, MA; the candidate must be eligible for appointment at each site. The appointee must possess strong clinical skills and be experienced in providing clinical care and instruction in the treatment of pediatric patients with who have many needs, including social challenges, medically complex conditions, and mental and physical disabilities in an outpatient clinical setting. Additionally, this position is responsible for supervision and evaluation of postdoctoral residents in all aspects of oral conscious sedation and operating room activities. Further expectations include mentoring postdoctoral residents on scholarly activities pertaining to dental research.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Candidates must be graduates of an advanced education program in Pediatric Dentistry and be board certified. Qualified applicants must have a DMD/DDS degree from a U.S. or Canadian dental school recognized by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation or a comparable foreign degree. Applicants must hold or be eligible for dental licensure or a limited faculty license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and be eligible for hospital privileges. Candidates must also be well versed and either hold or be eligible for a valid nitrous or sedation dental license/permit in Massachusetts.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Preference for this position will be given to candidates with previous clinical teaching, or who exhibit demonstrated potential for teaching excellence, and scholarly research activity.
Academic rank and salary are commensurate with training and experience.
