Job Description:


The Oakton College Summer STEAM Camp program is looking for enthusiastic and innovative assistants for the 2025 summer camp season. Camp Assistants will support instructors and students, assist with hands-on and computer-based lessons and projects and supervise campers ages 8-14.



  • Assist with classroom setup (e.g., loading computer programs, setting up laptops, organizing supplies)
  • Assist the instructor with students: answering questions, helping with projects
  • Provide and oversee activities, escort students to classrooms, restrooms, cafeteria and supervise during lunch and breaks
  • Facilitate student pickup and drop off
  • Other duties as assigned

Subject Matter Include:
Various STEAM topics, hands-on and computer-based lessons and projects



Requirements:



  • Must be punctual, prepared, dependable and responsible
  • Must be a team player, contributing to the success of program
  • Have the ability to work with and show patience with youth participants ages 8-14 Previous experience working with youth preferred
  • Experience with technology helpful, but not required

SKOKIE CAMPUS


Week 1: 6/9-6/12; Monday-Thursday; 8:30am - 4:15pm


Week 2: 6/16-6/18; Monday- Wednesday; 8:30am - 4:15pm


Week 3: 6/23-6/26; Monday-Thursday; 8:30am - 4:15pm


Week 4: 6/30-7/2; Monday-Wednesday; 8:30am - 4:15pm



DES PLAINES CAMPUS


Week 5: 7/14-7/17; Monday-Thursday; 8:30am - 4:15pm


Week 6: 7/21-7/24; Monday-Thursday; 8:30am - 4:15pm


Week 7: 7/28-7/31; Monday-Thursday; 8:30am - 4:15pm


Week 8: 8/4-8/7; Monday-Thursday; 8:30am - 4:15pm


Salary:
$16 per hour


Must be at least 18 years old by June 5

All employees must maintain their primary residence in Illinois, Indiana, or a reciprocal state with Illinois. Reciprocal states include Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Illinois has tax agreements with these reciprocal states. Employees may have their primary residence in Indiana since Indiana is adjacent to Illinois.
