Vice President for Academics and Student Success
Camp Community College invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Academics and Student Success. Reporting to the President, the Vice President serves as both the chief academic affairs and student services officer of the college. A strategic thought partner to the President and most senior member of the cabinet, the Vice President will provide college-wide leadership and high quality and innovative programming that is responsive to the needs of students and the community. In their role, the Vice President for Academics and Student Success will work collaboratively with deans, directors, coordinators, and faculty and staff across two campuses and an instructional center and actively engage with external partners off-campus as well.
The Vice President for Academics and Student Success has direct reports that include the Dean of Academic Programs, Dean of Nursing and Allied Health, Coordinator of Institutional Research and Assessment, Coordinator of Library Services, Smithfield Center Coordinators, Dean of Student Services, Director of the Student Support Services Program, Director of Upward Bound, Coordinator of Financial Aid, and related areas.
A highly visible, collaborative, personable, and student-centered leader focused on the specific needs of the cities of Franklin and Suffolk, and the counties of Isle of Wight and Southampton, the Vice President for Academics and Student Success must have excellent communication skills, have the ability to innovate, build partnerships, and be an active participant in the eco-system of services in the region that are focused on community building, economic development, and regional prosperity.

As a creative and innovative leader who broadly engages across two campuses, the Vice President for Academics and Student Success must have strong interpersonal, organizational, management, and communication skills. In addition, the ideal candidate will have the following characteristics and qualifications:
- A positive, solutions focused orientation that actively addresses challenges and seizes opportunities in order to be responsive to student and community needs.
- A passionate interest and resolute commitment to student success; someone who is a student advocate.
- A thought leader who is abreast of national trends and is conversant on interventions that enable positive student outcomes.
- An interest and appreciation for rural life and culture as well as an understanding of the differing needs of students from rural, suburban, and exurban communities.
- Demonstrated skill in financial administration, including developing, implementing, and managing unit budgets, expenses, and related items.
- Demonstrated ability to develop academic, student, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of institutional and programmatic accreditation, program development and approval, and institutional assessment.
- An earned Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution is required.
- Significant teaching experience and considerable administrative experience at the dean’s level or above in a college or university setting.
- Considerable experience as an academic administrator in a community college preferred.
