Job Description:

Franklin & Marshall College is recruiting for afull-time Dean of Students.

Job Details:
• Location: F&M Campus -Lancaster, PA
• Classification: Full-time Exempt
• Schedule: 40 hours, Monday to Friday. Evenings and weekends when required.
• Reports to: Vice President of Student Affairs
• Department: Student Affairs
• Approved Annual Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000.

Job Description:
The Dean of Students will provide visionary oversight and leadership for several critical areas of student life, including Residential Life and Housing, Student Accessibility Services, the Office of Wellness Programs/DipCares, and Student Conduct. This position plays a pivotal role in supporting the College's commitment to student success, engagement, retention, and belonging, fostering an inclusive thriving campus community. The Dean will collaborate closely with students, families, faculty, staff, and senior leadership, ensuring the holistic development and well-being of all students.

Essential Functions:
• Strategic Planning and Assessment:
- Contribute to divisional and college-wide strategic planning efforts, ensuring alignment with institutional goals for student success.
- Lead divisional assessment efforts, developing a framework for continuous improvement and ongoing evaluation of student life initiatives.
- Development, implementation and continuous improvement of F&M's Student Conduct policies and procedures. Handle all student conduct cases of Academic Dishonesty, and significant acts of student conduct within Residential Life. Serves as the primary student conduct officer and coordinates the activities of other hearing officers.
- Collaborate with other departments to create a cohesive student experience that integrates academic and co-curricular opportunities.

• Oversight of the following key areas, ensuring successful operations to support a safe, inclusive environment that contributes to student success:
- Residential Life and Housing operations, ensuring they provide safe, inclusive, and purposeful living environments.
- Student Accessibility Services office, ensuring that all students have equal access to academic and extracurricular opportunities.
- Office of Wellness Programs/DipCares, fostering programs that prioritize students' mental and physical health.
• Student Engagement and Development:
- Work collaboratively with students to create an environment that promotes intellectual exploration, leadership development, and a sense of belonging.
- Serve as a resource to students, offering guidance, support, and advocacy to help them navigate their college experience.
- Foster a focus on personal growth, agency, responsibility, and resilience, supporting students both inside and outside the classroom.

• Leadership and Staff Development:
- Provide mentorship, professional development opportunities, and leadership to staff in the Student Affairs division, ensuring a diverse and skilled team.
- Ensure that departmental goals and services are aligned with broader institutional priorities.
• Collaboration and Partnerships:
- Foster strong partnerships across the College, working closely with Academic Affairs to develop a comprehensive strategy that integrates Student Affairs initiatives.
- Actively engage with various campus committees, representing the needs of students and advocating for their success and well-being.

• Communication:
- Serve as an effective communicator to students, families, faculty, and staff, ensuring clear and empathetic messaging regarding student services and policies.
- Act as a liaison between students and senior leadership, representing the student body's concerns and needs.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in student affairs including a strong background in student development.
• Experience in strategic planning, assessment, and continuous improvement practices.
• Proven experience supervising Directors of several areas of Student Affairs (ex: Residence Life, Wellness Programs, Student Accessibility Services, Student Conduct)
• Proven ability to lead and manage student-focused programs and initiatives that foster success, retention, and well-being.
• Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Google Suite Products (Docs, Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Drive). Experience with Maxient and/or a similarCase Management Software.
• Evidence of a commitment to community & belonging.
• Successful interview.
• Successful completion of background checks.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Doctorate Degree.
• Prior experience as a Dean of Students in a Higher Education setting.
• Prior experience in a leadership role in Student Affairs at a Liberal Arts College.

Additional Information:
