The academic advisor participates in university and college events and recruitment activities such as Open House and new student orientations. The academic advisor will work with new freshmen and transfer students to ensure a successful transition to the university and will participate in college and university student recruitment and advising programs and events, including some evening and weekend events.

Programming – 20%
The academic advisor works as part of the Pre-Professional Advising team to provide supplemental advising and programming to all ECU students and alumni interested in pursuing a health profession requiring an advanced degree (AuD, OT, PT, PA, SLP, MD, DMD, etc). The Pre-Professional Advising team hosts special programs and events throughout the year to prepare advisees to become competitive applicants for professional programs. The academic advisor will assist with these events, serve on the Health Professions Committee, and will have the opportunity to teach a freshman seminar class. The academic advisor will also serve as the faculty advisor for a pre-professional student organization.

Leadership and Special Projects – 10%
