Description:

Reporting to the Executive Director for Alumni Affairs and Special Events, the Assistant Director for Alumni Affairs will work within a comprehensive program that fosters mutually supportive roles between the University and its alumni at the school and college level. The Assistant Director will manage a portfolio of approximately 350 prospects, with annual financial fundraising goals and meetings, and will be responsible for moving prospects through the development continuum. Additional hours will be required on evenings and weekends in support of special projects and events.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages all activities surrounding several special interest alumni affinity groups, including the GOLD (Graduates Of the Last Decade) group.
  • Works with volunteers through the various components of volunteer management: identification, recruitment, event planning, fundraising, leadership succession, etc., as well as other projects as needed.
  • Designs and distributes the monthly e-newsletter.
  • Creates and publishes content on all social media platforms and the website.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Two to five years of experience in development, alumni affairs, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in volunteer management and customer service.
  • Experience with project coordination, marketing, and event planning.
  • Knowledge of web-based services, as well as print and electronic publications.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience and knowledge of social media platforms.
  • Must have superior written, oral, and interpersonal skills, in addition to strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to build authentic relationships with a culturally and racially diverse alumni network.
  • Must be able to travel locally and work evenings and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fundraising, sales, or related experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with constituents and alumni from diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds is desirable.
