Summary of Position: The Director of Regional Management plays a vital role in the smooth operation and success of the Education Centers of Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU). These sites are part of the regional education centers located throughout Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky and sit within the National & Global unit of IWU. Each center strives to partner with their community to meet its educational needs. Providing professional meeting space, in addition to educational programs for working adults, allows IWU to build these partnerships while serving the local community.The Director of Regional Management will serve as the direct leader of specified site operations, leading and supporting staff members in the operations and conferencing functions for those sites.
This role is suited for someone who is highly relational and has a love of problem-solving and innovation. In addition, skills related to supervising personnel, customer service, sales, building management, team building, project management, and negotiation.
He/she assumes primary responsibility to lead, direct, and oversee the sites and staffing for daily campus operations at the specified Education Centers. Supervises regional operational staff at multiple locations and provides leadership of these centers. Assists the Assistant Vice President for Operations and Regional Management and Vice President for Learner Success & Regional Workforce Engagement with initiatives and projects as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Leadership and Administrative Responsibilities
- Develops a high-performance regional team and culture that models the posture and values of N&G. Encourages innovative and creative thinking in the region across all N&G departments
- Facilitates collaborative, healthy relationships with IWU employees from other departments housed within the education centers
- Communicates in a manner that fosters collaboration
- Manages building finances including assistance with oversite of budget. Review and oversee site budgets for sites within region of oversite and coach site leaders on budget management
- Stays informed regarding regional workforce needs and local conversations in higher education and business. Provides input for the research efforts that discover models and offerings at the regional education centers
- Represents the University in a positive manner to internal and external customers through Christian conduct
- Works collaboratively with enrollment management specialists to promote effective site marketing and learner recruitment efforts
- Assists Executive Director as needed
- Campus Operations
- Oversees the day-to-day management of the state’s education centers including 24/7 on-call duties
- Coordinates all aspects of building and grounds management in order to create and maintain an inviting, professional, and safe environment
- Oversees & troubleshoots building technology in cooperation with IWU Technology Services
- Staffs the buildings based of usage needs
- Partners with regional ventures team to support the ventures-focused initiatives in the region, with particular focus on how those ventures interact with the education center
- Provides operational and spiritual support for staff, students, and faculty as needed
- Oversees landlord relations as needed
- Creates and maintains a culture of continuous improvement
- Stays abreast of upcoming learning opportunities being scheduled in the building
- Works with IWU’s Emergency Management and Risk Management offices to stay up-to-date on protocols at the IWU, local, state, and federal levels
- Conferencing Services
- Meets or exceeds conference revenue expectations
- Oversees all aspects of conferencing
- Builds and maintains new conference guest pipeline – Networking, marketing, and promoting new conferencing opportunities
Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
Experience
- At least five (5) years of experience in supervising and managing employees
- Customer service-related experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision
- Commercial building and project management-related experience is helpful
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Leadership and team building skills (e.g., ability to train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff)
- Proficient with MS Office and comfortable using a variety of technology (e.g., audio visual equipment, teleconferencing)
- Administrative and project management skills (e.g., ability to self-start, multi-task, prioritize tasks for self and others, and attention to detail and accuracy)
- Excellent organizational and planning skills (e.g., including budget planning, bookkeeping and budget management)
- Ability to problem solve, interpret instructions and data, and deal with unknown variables
- Networking and partnership development skills (e.g., ability to work innovatively, and collaboratively with internal and external customers)
