The Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Chapman University invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track Instructional Assistant Professor of Environmental Policy, beginning August 1, 2025.

This position will support both the Environmental Science and Policy major (a joint program with Schmid College of Science and Technology) and the Environmental Studies minor. Teaching responsibilities include Introduction to Environmental Policy and elective courses such as US Environmental History, Society and the Environment, Environmental Rhetoric, and/or other areas of related interest. The successful candidate should possess quantitative skills in the social sciences, including the use of R, as part of a mixed methods approach that is central to our students’ learning.

Responsibilities 

Teaching responsibilities include Introduction to Environmental Policy and elective courses such as US Environmental History, Society and the Environment, Environmental Rhetoric, and/or other areas of related interest. Plan, develop, and deliver high-quality courses in environmental policy and area of expertise and interest to support the ES&P and Environmental Studies programs.Offer regular office hours to provide students with opportunities for one-on-one consultations, academic advising, and clarification of course materials.Contribute to discussions and decisions related to curriculum development, and other relevant matters.Contribute to the overall mission of the institution by participating in faculty meetings and supporting campus-wide initiatives, events, and community engagement initiatives.Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom by creating an inclusive and welcoming learning environment that respects and values the perspectives of all students. 


Qualifications:

Required

    A Ph.D. in relevant field from an accredited institution of higher education.In-depth knowledge and expertise in the appropriate subject area and quantitative skills in the social sciences.A dedication to excellence in teaching and commitment to student success.The successful candidate should possess quantitative skills in the social sciences, including the use of R, as part of a mixed methods approach that is central to our students’ learning.

The Salary range for this position is $75,000-$85,000. This position is contingent on final budget approval.  Successful completion of a background check is required for the final candidate.
