Department Responsibilities
- Digital Library and Research Repository Technical Support: Act as technical liaison between our repository software vendor providers and our patrons and staff to ensure optimal performance. Collaborate with IT staff on system upgrades, troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Special Collections and Archives Collaboration: Support Special Collections and Archives in delivering digital access to primary source materials. Advise and implement specialized digital applications and tools.
- Project Management: Serve as project manager for assigned digital initiatives. Develop project timelines, coordinate tasks, and ensure project goals are met. Facilitate communication between stakeholders, documenting progress and reporting outcomes.
- Training and Documentation: Provide training for staff and faculty on digital library tools and workflows. Create and maintain system documentation, guides, and best practices.
- Research and Development: Stay current with emergent technologies and industry best practices. Recommend and implement innovative digital solutions.
- Other duties as assigned: Assist with general departmental tasks and special projects as needed.
- ALA-accredited master's degree or equivalent experience or degree in one or more fields relevant to the position.
- Demonstrated understanding of current research and trends in digital repositories, including knowledge of emerging issues and technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies, including teaching oneself to use new software applications or develop familiarity with programming languages.
- Adaptability, including ability to adjust to changes in disciplinary trends and practices and to evolving organizational priorities.
- Accountability, including taking ownership of work, proactively identifying what is needed without being asked, and following through.
- Ability to plan, manage time, utilize available resources efficiently, and find better ways to accomplish personal and team goals.

- Experience and technical proficiency with digital repository platforms (e.g. TIND, FigShare, DSpace)
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. PHP, Python), web technologies (e.g. HTML, JavaScript), and content management tools (e.g. Drupal, WordPress).
- Experience working in an academic setting managing grant-funded digital projects.
Florida State University (FSU) Libraries seeks a highly motivated, innovative and collegial librarian for the position of Digital Projects Librarian. Duties will include providing key support and service expansion around the organization’s Digital Library and Research Repository. This position collaborates closely with Special Collections and Archives to address their software application needs, enabling digital access to primary source materials for the academic research community and beyond. Additionally, the Digital Projects Librarian will lead and manage digital projects, ensuring timely and effective delivery through strong project management and organizational skills. We encourage applications from information professionals and recent graduates with fewer than three years of experience.
