Position Description:

The School of Theatre, Dance, and Film at Texas State University seeks an Assistant Professor of Film Production (Tenure Track), starting fall 2025. The new hire will join a nationally recognized department with a dynamic faculty dedicated to a collaborative and innovative approach to teaching undergraduate and graduate students. The Film Production Concentration within the vibrant BFA program focuses on narrative fictional filmmaking and has a rapidly growing diverse student body and a new dedicated building for film, television and audio production.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:· Teaching undergraduate courses in film· Advising Film Production students· Supervising co-curricular student projects· Collaborating with the Film Production Area in support of current initiatives and new developments· Serving the Film Program through administrative contributions and/or leadership positions

Required Qualifications:

· Terminal degree in Film or closely related discipline· Professional experience in film, episodic or other visual storytelling· Teaching experience at the college level· Commitment to an ongoing professional career

Preferred Qualifications:

· Demonstrated professional experience in at least one of these focus areas: film producing, cinematography, editing or sound· Experience teaching undergraduate film courses on film producing, cinematography, editing or sound· Strong organizational and administrative skills· Demonstrated record of strong collaborative abilities
