Position Description:

The Department of Information Systems and Analytics (ISA) at Texas State University seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning fall 2025.

The selected applicant will be expected to conduct high-quality research relevant with information systems, leading to peer reviewed scholarly publications. Particularly, we seek scholars whose research applies Artificial Intelligence (AI), modern Machine Learning (ML), and similar technologies to solve business problems. Additionally, the selected applicant will be expected to teach relevant undergraduate and graduate courses, especially courses in applied AI, modern ML, and software development. Additional job duties include service at the department, college, university, and professional levels.

The McCoy College of Business fosters an engaged learning community that prepares the student population for successful business careers as responsible global citizens. The College complements these efforts with research that adds to knowledge, provides solutions to business challenges, and contributes to pedagogical advances. The College is AACSB-accredited, has grown more than 30 percent over the last 10 years, and serves over 4,200 undergraduate and nearly 500 graduate students. The ISA Department hosts a Master of Science in Data Analytics and Information Systems, BBA in Computer Information Systems, a university-wise minor in Analytics, as well as contributing to the Master of Business Administration and the proposed Doctor of Business Administration.

All positions are subject to the availability of funds.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must have earned Ph.D., D.B.A or be ABD from an internationally accredited institution with a business-related area in information systems, management information systems, information technology, and computer science.

ABD candidates are expected to successfully defend their dissertation by the date of hire. The candidate must have an active business-related research agenda in AI/ML.

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the required qualifications listed above, candidates with the following qualifications are preferred:

• Ph.D. from an AACSB accredited business school.

• Previous research experience in the areas of AI/ML applications in business.

• Previous teaching experience in applied AI, ML, and/or software development.

• Evidence of effective teaching (if any).

• Experience with applying application programming interface (API) of AI-powered language models, such as ChatGPT, Claude.ai, and Google Gemini.

• Track record (or potential) for publications in peer-reviewed high-quality journals.

• Experience (or potential) in securing external funding.
