Position Description :The Department of Computer Science invites applications for an Online Assistant Professor of Instruction position to start as early as Fall 2025. We are seeking candidates to teach a variety of courses in the online Master of Computer Science program. The position is a nine-month non-tenure-line faculty appointment. Opportunities exist to augment the academic year salary by assisting with summer instruction. All positions are subject to availability of funds.
Successful candidates are expected to do the following:
1. Teach 4 sections of online courses at the master’s level per semester,
2. Exhibit a collaborative attitude that feeds into the culture of cooperation and teamwork in the Computer Science Department.
This non-tenure-line faculty position is primarily for online teaching. Candidates are not expected to engage in research, external funding, or publications.
The department offers the following degree programs: Bachelor of Science (BS) in computer science, Bachelor of Arts in computer science, Master of Science in computer science, Master of Arts in computer science, and Doctor of Philosophy in computer science. The BS degree is ABET accredited.
The Computer Science department enjoys a friendly atmosphere and is dedicated to the success of its junior faculty, providing support through formal mentoring, reduced service loads, collaboration and collegiality, and opportunities to participate in university-wide professional development programs.
For both ranks:
- Ph.D. degree in computer science or a closely related field by the start of employment.
- Evidence of online teaching effectiveness in US universities.
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
- At least five years of online teaching experience at the university level. Applicants must show evidence of teaching effectiveness at the graduate-level.
- Demonstrate current and contemporary competence in online teaching
- Exhibit the potential for increased leadership in teaching and instructional activities
