Compensation: The starting annual base salary range for this full-time, 10 month position is $75,000-$80,000.

Position Summary and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Health Services, the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant assists the Health Service team in the performance of direct patient care services for our college population to include diagnostic and therapeutic services with off-site physician supervision. Within the PA or NP Physician relationship, the advanced care practitioner exercises autonomy in medical decision making and services provided.
This advanced care practitioner should have an advanced knowledge base and skills in health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention, physical and psychosocial assessment and management of health and illness applicable to the care of college students. The PA/NP will provide acute care and triage, management of chronic disease, gynecological services, STI screening and treatment as well as alcohol and substance abuse education.
Responsibilities:
- Perform efficient and high quality outpatient clinical care in collaboration with our medical staff.
- Complete concurrent and comprehensive documentation for each patient encounter.
- Order diagnostic testing and therapeutic modalities such as lab tests, imaging studies, EKGs.
- Prescribe and administer medications consistent within the PA/NP and supervising Physician’s scope of practice.
- Respond to on-campus emergencies when needed.
- Conduct sports physicals, travel health physicals and preventive screening exams.
- Serve as liaison to sports medicine and athletics departments.
- Provide health counseling and education to patients including substance and alcohol abuse and sexual health related concerns.
- Participate in after hours on call schedule and provide medical support during campus wide events.
- Perform additional clinical tasks as delegated to support the operations of the department.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Current Registered Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner license or Physician Assistant license in the State of New York.
- Baccalaureate degree.
- Three years of advanced care provider experience in either Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or College Health or related field.
- Current BLS level CPR certification.
- Progressive leadership skills; ability to develop, guide, motivate, and coach others.
- Ability to adapt to changing protocols and guidelines based on the healthcare field.
- Must be able to function with a high level of autonomy, be self-motivated; detail oriented, and proficient in electronic health record documentation.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the department and institution.
- ACLS/PALS certification.
- Current DEA license.
- Knowledge of electronic Medicat.
- Prior experience in urgent/emergency care.
- Prior experience in mental health care.
- Prior experience in orthopedics or sports medicine.
