HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Office of International Initiatives (OII) seeks a Program Manager as part of the Special Programs for Global Engagement. OII hosts various programs throughout the year for international students to immerse themselves in U.S. culture and enable them to experience U.S. higher education.

The Program Manager will serve as the second point of contact for Special Programs for Global Engagement at Georgia State University. This position will support the leadership and management of OII’s special programs for international faculty and students; and help develop and implement cohort-based professional and academic training programs for international participants.

Georgia State University, founded in 1913, has a mission of excellence in teaching, research, and service. Located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, this major research university has an enrollment of more than 50,000 undergraduate and graduate students. GSU also incorporates Perimeter College, a two-year college serving students across five Atlanta-area campuses. Study Abroad Programs is a unit of the Office of International Initiatives. Other major units of International Initiatives include International Partnerships and Agreements, Special Programs for Global Engagement, Virtual Exchange, and Global Scholar Distinction program. GSU is nationally recognized as a leader in international education, having won the 2022 IIE Andrew Heiskell Award for Innovation in International Education and the 2023 Senator Paul Simon Award for Outstanding Campus Internationalization.

The Program Manager will:

·         Assist with developing and implementing strategies to expand special programs.

·         Use a range of marketing tools and materials to promote special programs to international students and partners, students and faculty of GSU, and external stakeholders.

·         Support recruiting international students and faculty, with guidance from the Associate Director of Special Programs.

·         Work collaboratively with GSU faculty members and international partners via phone and email to ensure the efficient administration of programs.

·         Work with internal and external stakeholders for contracts, agreements, and purchases to assist with program finances.

·         Responsible for registering summer student participants in Banner.

·         Liaise with on-campus units, including Admissions, Colleges, International Student and Scholar Services, and Housing to facilitate program logistics. Responsibilities include but are not limited to coordinating with Admissions to establish applications, working with Housing to secure lodging for students, etc.

·         Provide on-site orientation and cultural programming.

·         Support the development of events and activities to promote graduate programs to international participants.

·         Distribute program evaluations via Qualtrics and analyze data to improve program efficiency.

·         Facilitate hiring, training, supervising, and assigning duties to student employees. Offer professional development opportunities and mentorship for student employees.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Master’s degree and five years of related experience including at least two years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications: 

  Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends during busy seasons.  

·         Bilingual Preferred: Able to proficiently read, write, and speak a language in addition to English. 

·         Preference will be given to those who possess international work/study experience.

Georgia State’s main campus is located on 34 acres in downtown Atlanta. University centers in Alpharetta, Brookhaven, Buckhead and Henry County offer students convenient suburban locations for graduate courses in business and education.

More than 50,000 students annually attend Georgia State University. While 90 percent of the students are from Georgia, students also come from all 50 states and 160 countries. More than 1,400 international students attend Georgia State and graduate students comprise 31 percent of the student population.

Degrees are offered at the bachelor’s, master’s, specialist and doctoral levels through six units: the College of Arts and Sciences, J. Mack Robinson College of Business, College of Education, College of Health and Human Sciences, College of Law and Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. In addition to the numerous degree programs, Georgia State offers full- and part-time programs and day, evening and weekend classes.

Students have many choices in extracurricular activities including more than 22 fraternities and sororities; and some 250 chartered student groups, including 60 degree-related student groups, seven religious, 24 law-oriented and 22 multicultural/international groups; and 10 honor societies. There is also an active student government association which includes the student senate and the judicial board.

The Georgia State Panthers are members of the Colonial Athletic Association and compete in 16 NCAA Division I intercollegiate men’s and women’s sports, including basketball, baseball, softball, golf, tennis, track and volleyball. The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.

The university’s innovative Touch the Earth program brings outdoor recreation ranging from backpacking, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, rafting and water-skiing to out-of-state snow-skiing and snorkeling trips. And WRAS, Georgia State’s popular 100,000-watt radio voice, is the most powerful student-run radio station in the United States.
