Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:Under supervision, the Veterans Affairs Coordinator, Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success (CEVSS) is responsible for supporting Veteran benefit recipients and Active-Duty Military students in meeting their educational and social objectives by ensuring the accomplishment ofoperational outcomes in process or programs. The Veterans Affairs Coordinator, CEVSS servesas the main point of contact for Veteran benefit recipients and active duty military students,including enrollment and registration, and advising.
This is a Grant Funded position.
- Assists students with registration and academic advisement for degree programs by developing
- individual academic plans to ensure compliance with VA and DoD policies and approves
- enrollment for each student prior to certification.
- Identifies at-risk students and serves as an advocate for military and veteran students dealing
- with the college, DoD, and VA. Tracks progress to identify at-risk students and ensures progress
- towards program completion.
- Meets individually with current and prospective students to facilitate academic planning and
- scheduling and address student concerns.

- Advises and guides students into making decisions consistent with interest, goals, abilities, and
- degree requirements while meeting Department of Defense and Veteran Affairs guidelines for
- use of benefits.
- Ensures students complete all required forms for admissions and financial aid
- Assists with university recruitment efforts to increase the veteran, active duty and dependent
- student population
- Works with faculty and university staff to identify and provide needed early interventions to
- veteran benefit recipients and active duty military students.
- Assists students in overcoming educational and personal problems, and study skills deficiencies.
- Refers students to counselors, if necessary. Prepares, maintains, and updates files to ensure
- coursework and other specific program requirements are met by students.
- Tracks and provides data on veteran benefit and active duty military students, including
- success, retention, and completion rates.

Hiring Range:$45,486.69 - $57,995.53
Education:Master’s Degree (M.A. or M.S.) from four-year College or universityor equivalent. Proof of enrollment in a master’s Program maysuffice.
Master’s degree in social work preferred.
Valid Texas Driver’s License preferred.

- Requires full/complete knowledge in multiple disciplines and serves as an ultimate subject matter expert in at least one discipline or function. Demonstrates full command of technical and functional principles, procedures, and subject matter in multiple disciplines to handle any situation and lead or train others. Requires the ability to lead the development or modification of work procedures across multiple disciplines.
