St. Norbert College (SNC), a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college invites applications for an Assistant Director of Financial Aid - Technical Operations. This position is responsible for analysis and technical support for the Office of Financial Aid. The primary systems of oversight are Ellucian Banner Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, SAP Business Objects reporting tool, self-service, and other administrative applications running on a variety of hardware and software platforms. This position is also responsible for completing a number of surveys required by the college.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates and enhances business processes by identifying needs, gathering requirements, and leading the implementation, testing, and deployment of solutions. Supports new and existing programs, applications, system integrations, business intelligence, and overall system maintenance and troubleshooting. Additionally, provides comprehensive financial aid counseling to students, families, and prospective students, covering state, federal, and institutional student aid programs.

  • Manages and maintains Banner modules and the KnightLine portal, ensuring seamless functionality and timely updates. This includes overseeing all aspects of the new aid year setup, monitoring Ellucian for upgrades and patches to the Banner financial aid module, and coordinating with Information Technology Services (ITS) to schedule and implement necessary releases or updates. Additionally, reviews release notes, develops testing plans, and collaborates with ITS and end-users to execute and validate upgrades and patches effectively.

  • Develops complex Business Objects reports, updates scripts, and schedules reports for office staff. Utilizes these reports to respond promptly to survey requests from the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) and other campus stakeholders.

  • Writes and maintains clear documentation of the financial aid system setup (Banner and other core systems), requirements, testing processes, maintenance, troubleshooting, and procedures. This also includes providing end-users with the release guides and an overview of what is included within each release. 

  • Manages various financial aid programs/processes, including being responsible for managing the completion of WI Act 284 requirements, state programs reconciliation tool (Access), scholarship tool setup and awarding (Access), new student batch awarding, monthly Exit Counseling, Return to Title IV, and the Net Price Calculator.

  • Develops and maintains strong communication with other Banner and Slate coordinators, particularly the Enrollment Management Business Systems Analyst. Actively participate in cross-functional working groups and committees for operational issues from the functional perspective. This includes working with other offices to ensure systems across campus (i.e. Banner, Slate, StarRez, etc.) communicate and relay data effectively and accurately. This may involve coordinating and working with other offices such as advancement, admissions, student account services, registrar, and information technology services.

  • Trains and provides first-level support to core and end-users on the functional processes and procedures within the Banner financial aid module and other core systems (i.e. SAP business objects).

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Experience in higher education or financial aid is preferred.

  • 3 years of analyst experience.

  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse campus environment or commitment to do so as an employee of St. Norbert College.

  • Knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) systems (preferably Slate), Banner, and SAP Business Objects reporting tool.

  • Knowledge of report writing programs and concepts.

  • Ability to interact professionally with coworkers and customers, particularly in conflict situations.

  • Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines, and prioritize tasks and assignments.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Skilled in basic math computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  • Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Office, including Access, Google Apps) and ability to learn upgrades and new programs as needed.

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and decisions expeditiously.

  • Skilled at organizing programs and seeing them through to completion.

  • Skilled at organizing events, programs, and projects and seeing them through to completion.
