Job Details

St. Norbert College (SNC), a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college currently has an opening for a part-time Barista at Ed's Coffee Shop and Cafe. This position is responsible for assisting the unit manager with the daily operation of Ed’s Coffee Shop and Cafe. This includes waiting on customers, setting and cleaning up, stocking all food and supplies, and food/drink preparation.

The hours vary Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - Noon, approximately 18 hours per week. This is a recurring academic year/ 9-month position that works annually from mid-August to mid-May.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Wait on customers and answer questions regarding services and products available in the Coffee Shop.

  • Prepare food and beverages including sandwiches, pizza, coffee, smoothies, etc.

  • Use point-of-sale cash register.

  • Prep food for future purchases.

  • Clean, sweep, mop, sanitize, and take out garbage and recycling.

  • Rotate and arrange inventory.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 1-3 years of retail food and customer experience.

  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse campus environment or commitment to do so as an employee of St. Norbert College.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to interact professionally with coworkers and customers, particularly in conflict situations.

  • Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines, and prioritize tasks and assignments.

  • Skilled in basic math computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  • Ability to concentrate and focus in a noisy environment.

  • Knowledge of coffee bars and how to make products in such establishments is a plus.  Training provided.
