Description:Reporting to the Director of the Gitenstein Institute for Health Law and Policy, this role performs senior level secretarial tasks for the Law School’s Gitenstein Institute for Health Law and Policy.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Represents the Gitenstein Institute, serving as the central point of contact and resource regarding information about programs and courses.
- Coordinates meetings, classes and events for programs and courses at the institute including Conversations: Health and Treatment (CHAT), Under the Microscope, Mission Critical Veterans Project, Bioethics Certificate Course and Continuing Legal Education course.
- Provides support for the above programs, including preparing materials, updating syllabi, setting up the online classroom in Canvas, creating posters and corresponding with speakers and students attending program/event.
- Coordinates logistics for conferences including booking rooms, ordering refreshments, arranging audiovisual services, coordinating speakers, printing, and preparing materials.
- Supports the Hofstra Northwell Medical-Legal Partnership by fielding calls from MLP legal services, scheduling appointments for legal consultations with clients, arranging meetings, submitting invoices, and overseeing the daily activities and schedules of the attorneys representing the MLP.
- Acts as a liaison between Pro-Bono Counsel and the Legal Director of the MLP. Schedules meetings, training, and keeps track of clients assigned to attorneys.
- Maintains and updates the Gitenstein Newsletter, webpages, and various social media platforms for the Institute.
- Responsible for providing overall secretarial support for the Institute including maintaining calendars, coordinating travel, preparing email correspondence, maintaining files and photocopying.
- May perform other duties not specifically defined above, but which require the same degree of skills and which are normally included within the above job title.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Must be detail oriented with the ability to multitask, work independently, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
