Job Description

Montgomery College has an immediate need for a full-time Enrollment and Student Access Manager, located in the Raptor Central Department. The work schedule is typically Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm with occasional weekend and evening hours, depending on the needs of the department. This position may also require occasional travel to other campuses and locations. This is a non-bargaining, exempt, grade 27 position located at the East County Education Center in Silver Spring, Maryland. One (1) day of telework may be granted based on the needs of the unit.

The Enrollment and Student Access Manager, under supervision and/or direction, plans, develops, implements and oversees the operation of campus-based enrollment and student access programs and services. Unit serves as primary in-person resource for individuals to gain access to college’s academic programs, services and other resources by processing admission applications and transcripts, uploading test scores and performing other admissions/enrollment functions.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manages operations of a campus-based enrollment and student access unit.
  • Plans, develops, oversees and evaluates related programs, services and activities.
  • Provides day-to-day supervision of staff, monitor effectiveness, accuracy and quality of unit and staff performance.
  • Serves as liaison for campus committees and task forces.
  • Coordinates and implements initiatives with recruitment to support on-boarding and enrollment.
  • Conducts interviews and recommend the hiring of employees.
  • Conducts formal and informal coaching and recommend disciplinary action.
  • Evaluates the training needs of staff and coordinate and/or conduct in-house training.
  • Approves time-sheets and leave requests.
  • Addresses enrollment and student access inquiries and complaints from students, faculty and staff.
  • Adheres to local, state, federal and best practices for managing an admissions office/welcome center, implementing admissions programs, safeguarding student information and maintaining the integrity of all admissions related functions.
    Support student access and enrollment by assisting with pilot projects, identifying students in the target populations, compiling data, reporting outcomes and collaborating with other on-boarding and enrollment offices, enhancing enrollment and student access services and operations.
  • Participates in the development, revision and implementation of standardized admissions policies and procedures.
  • Ensures technological resources are maintained and staff are adequately trained.
  • Maintains information systems and databases for data collection and analysis. Compile statistical and narrative reports.
  • Maintains budget for personnel, supplies and equipment.
  • Manages accounts and make recommendations for future program goals.
  • Coordinates use of the college’s language line to improve communication, access and advocacy for internal and external constituents visiting a Raptor Central location.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, communication, social sciences, business, marketing, public administration or related field.
  • Five years of experience working in admissions, enrollment services, records and registration or another enrollment related office.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Thorough knowledge of enrollment and student services, applicable federal and state laws such as the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), college policies, procedures, programs and services.
  • Customer service experience
  • Proficient in using college-specific integrated software systems, databases and office applications including the Microsoft Office suite. Proficient in the use of Banner or other student information system.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strongly preferred: bilingual in one of the most common second languages spoken in the county (Spanish, French, Amharic)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Two or more years of customer service experience

Hiring Range: $63,375 - $82,376 annually. Initial salary placement for new hires falls

between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $101,377.
