(Contingent upon available funding): 16.00 - 19.75, Hourly Work Schedule: Typically, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Faculty Appt Period: Job Summary: The Prevention Specialist will assist the Grant Coordinator in achieving TSET Healthy Living Program objectives. This includes preparing and delivering presentations around tobacco, physical activity, nutrition, and obesity prevention for selected audiences, recruiting community stakeholders for coalitions and collaborative groups, and attend community meetings within the service area. The Prevention Specialist will also assist and be an active participant in all phases of the grant, which include gathering data for the community needs assessment, development and mobilization of partners and coalition members, the development of a strategic plan, assist with implementation of the strategic plan and program evaluation. Job duties include but are not limited to: developing relationships with community partners and key stakeholders, recruiting coalition members from across the community sectors, and working closely with local coalitions. Assists with grant applications to continue funding, staying informed on current trends and practices of public health policy and standards, educate local stakeholders, monitors funded program expenditures, maintains compliance with financial procedures of TSET and OSU, attends all trainings/conferences/meetings required by grant, develops grant reports/collects data/maintains data on the grant program, works closely with OSU/TSET/OSDH to ensure compliance of all grant procedures and criteria, and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Must possess valid driver's license and a dependable transportation. Travel within Oklahoma including service area is required. Service area will be Payne County. Minimum Qualifications:
High School/GED
Five years of related experience.
To successfully perform the duties of the position, this person must have general knowledge of public health, evidence-based prevention strategies in tobacco control, built environment, active living and transportation and strategies to increase access to healthy foods and beverages, and community mobilization. Experience in providing consultation and technical assistance relating to the development, implementation, and assessment of data driven strategies; demonstrate the ability to effectively recruit potential community stakeholders and coalition members from various community sectors. Applicant must possess capacity to collect, review, analyze, prioritize, and use program and health-related data to assist in developing data driven strategic plan to address identified tobacco control and obesity issues. Acquire the ability to incorporate training skills into the practical work environment. This position requires the ability to work independently under the direction of the TSET Healthy Living program Coordinator. Competence in the use of computers for writing reports, data acquisition, and analysis is necessary, display oral and written communication skills, assist in the development and delivery of presentations, show the ability to coordinate training and workshop events, work within given budget, show experience in formulating and implementing policies and procedures, ability to collaborate as a team member, and be a self-starter with high motivation to succeed and the ability to take independent initiative.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Sciences, Education, Public Health, Health Promotion, Marketing, PR, or Related Field.
One year of related experience.
