Job Summary: The Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness manages and facilitates the continuing development and further enhancement of the outcomes assessment activities within both academic and administrative departments. Provides instruction regarding identifying and developing appropriate outcomes, constructing assessment plans, executing assessment actions, evaluating findings, and modifying and alternating processes and objectives based on the evaluation of findings. Reviews departmental assessment plans and the final reports of assessment activities. Supports the planning and budgeting functions of the University.

Additional Department Summary: The Executive Director of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) provides strategic leadership and oversight of the University’s accreditation, assessment, and institutional effectiveness processes. Reporting directly to the Senior Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, this role ensures compliance with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) standards and alignment with state and federal regulations. The Executive Director directs a team of at least five staff members who support the activities of the office and works collaboratively across the institution to advance continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities -

1. Strategic Oversight of Accreditation and Compliance: Serve as the University's SACSCOC Liaison, ensuring adherence to accreditation standards. Oversee the coordination of institutional accreditation processes, including compliance reports and reaffirmation efforts. Provide strategic guidance to academic programs pursuing specialized professional accreditations.

2. Leadership in Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment: Direct the overall strategy and processes for assessment and institutional effectiveness at the University. Ensure the effective implementation and integration of evaluation and reporting systems to align with institutional goals. Promote a culture of data-informed decision-making and evidence-based continuous improvement across all units.

3. Policy Development and Institutional Alignment: Collaborate with university leadership to establish policies and practices that support accreditation, assessment, and institutional effectiveness. Chair or provide leadership to advisory committees reviewing curriculum, assessment, and policy.

4. Team Leadership and Office Management: Lead and manage a team of professional staff who support accreditation, assessment, and institutional effectiveness activities. Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, ensuring effective coordination of office functions and alignment with institutional priorities.

5. Training and Stakeholder Engagement: Oversee training initiatives to enhance the capacity of faculty, staff, and administrators in assessment practices and data-driven decision-making. Collaborate with university stakeholders to document and demonstrate continuous improvement efforts.

The Executive Director partners with the Office for Academic Affairs and other campus leaders to advance academic excellence and student success. By guiding the OIE team and fostering cross-campus collaboration, this role ensures the university meets evolving accreditation and effectiveness expectations while aligning with its mission and strategic goals.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years of accreditation, assessment, evaluation, and/or institutional effectiveness experience in a higher education environment; OR master's degree and six (6) years of accreditation, assessment, evaluation, and/or institutional effectiveness experience in a higher education environment.

Skills and Knowledge: Excellent management and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with units across the University. Ability to work effectively with faculty and within a culture of shared governance. Proficient with data and knowledge of data analytics.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience developing and implementing outcome assessment initiatives in higher education academic and/or administrative units at a large institution with undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. Working knowledge of an automated accreditation management system. Experience with higher educational regional accreditation. Experience with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and specialized accreditation. Advanced knowledge of university institutional effectiveness processes. Advanced knowledge of assessment best practices. Teaching experience in higher education.
