The Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District (Shasta College) sits at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley, surrounded by mountains to the north, east, and west. The main campus is located in the city of Redding, population 90,000. DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Student Health and Wellness/College Nurse provides services to the District's diverse student community within the Student Health and Wellness office. The primary duties are effectively addressing and problem-solving health matters affecting diverse communities of students in their academic, career, and personal goals. The Director/College Nurse works directly with students assessing health status and referring them to appropriate services. Employees in this classification receive minimal supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures. Employees in this classification train, coordinate, supervise, and formally evaluate the work of assigned employees. This job class exercises responsibility for the planning, assigning, and supervising of the work of Student Health and Wellness personnel. This job class functions at a full supervisory level of classification, is overtime exempt, and requires effective organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
CLASSIFICATION: Range 40 on the Administrative Salary Schedule, 40 hours per week, 10 months per year. Work assignment hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. This is a classified administrator position with a default CalPERS retirement.
SUPERVISOR: Dean of Student Services or designee

Experience/Education
Education Required:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, or health care administration, public health, or community health.
- Current California Licensure as a registered nurse.
- Current CPR certification.

- Demonstrated sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students, as well as staff members and students with physical and/or learning disabilities.

New Administrative Appointments will be placed at the step 1 on the Administrative Salary Schedule and will graduate to the next step on July 1st of the following year if they have rendered 5 months of satisfactory service, with subsequent steps annually thereafter to a maximum fifth step.
Salary placement would only be negotiable if the candidate held the same position with another community college and step 2 or 3 would be the maximum considered depending on the number of years of service.
