Essential Functions:
Organizes and delivers PTA content to students utilizing a variety of teaching methodologies.
Evaluates student performance in class and lab settings.
Works with students to facilitate professional, ethical, and clinically appropriate behaviors.
Evaluates student readiness for clinical education through assessment of safe and competent performance of technical skills.
Identifies performance deficits and unsafe practices of students.
Provides remediation to students as needed to assure readiness for clinical education experiences.
Develops leadership qualities of students through promotion of local, regional, and state PTA professional involvement.
Demonstrates a commitment to the integrity of the PTA program through participation in local, state, and/or national activities/professional development related to the profession of physical therapy.
Participates in program and student learning assessment for accreditation and for the institution via data collection and collaboration with administrator, PTA faculty, and PTA Advisory Board members.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Candidate must have experience and applicable knowledge of subject matter for areas of the curriculum for which the faculty member is responsible.
Candidate must be able to present and demonstrate the skills being taught to students.
Competency with computer programs is essential.
The ability to organize material for presentations is required.
Candidate should be able to adapt to the strengths, weaknesses, and various learning styles of the students and make modifications as needed.
Candidate must exhibit a strong collaborative work ethic and high degree of professionalism.
Motivation is required to stay current in all areas of curriculum taught.
Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills are necessary.
Candidate should have a controlled demeanor and be sensitive to differences in cultures, learning styles and personalities of students.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
Three years of full-time (or equivalent) post-licensure clinical experience as a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in physical therapy practice; Contemporary experience in the areas of curriculum for which the faculty member is responsible; One year of physical therapy related teaching experience.
Ohio state PT or PTA licensure or license eligible. If from out-of-state, must attain Ohio licensure within one year of employment.
