FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Executive Assistant to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state's peach industry. Its 1,365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgia's second-largest public university in area.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for coordinating the administrative functions of the Office of the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Completes and manages annual faculty events.Manages the provision of academic support for the university's Academic Affairs functions.Provides clerical support for the Provost.Manages calendars and makes appointments for the Provost.Prepares a variety of regular and special reports.Researches, prepares and distributes correspondence and reports.Coordinates travel arrangements for Academic Affairs personnel.Modifies and updates various internal documents, reports and publications.Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    Knowledge of university and University System of Georgia policies and procedures.Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.Knowledge of university and departmental policies and procedures.Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.Skill in the use of such office equipment as a computer, scanner, fax machine, and copier.Skill in oral and written communication.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required.Three or more years of related experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS

    The work consists of varied administrative duties. The variety of duties combined with the need to interpret and reconcile diverse guidelines contributes to the complexity of the position.The purpose of this position is to manage the administrative functions of the Provost's Office. Successful performance helps ensure the efficiency of those operations.
PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS

    The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light objects.The work is typically performed in an office.
