Assistant Professor of Computer Science, Oklahoma State University
The Oklahoma State University (OSU) Department of Computer Science seeks applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of Computer Science position with a start date of August 2025. Preferred research and teaching interests are in game development, simulation programming, data visualization, and augmented and virtual reality. Candidates should have teaching experience at the college level and have a solid track record in the core Computer Science domains. All faculty support the department's efforts in developing and teaching courses for the online Computer Science BS degree program and may be assigned to either the Tulsa or Stillwater campuses.
The OSU Department of Computer Science (https://cs.okstate.edu) is strongly committed to excellence in research, teaching, and outreach. The Department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science, a new B.S. degree in Applied Computer Programming, along with a minor and graduate certificate program in Big Data Analytics. The Department also offers online courses to students at remote sites. Our recent student enrollment is about 420 undergraduate and 115 graduate students across all our majors, and we expect to grow by adding several new programs in the near future.Candidates are expected to have an earned PhD in Computer Science or a related field before August 2025 and will be evaluated based on their research record and their potential for contributing to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service within the Department of Computer Science. Faculty are expected to pursue research collaborations with other faculty, industry, and research institutions, compete for external funding, and publish their work in peer-reviewed venues. All faculty in the department contribute to the university’s land grant mission.Oklahoma State University, home of the Cowboys, is a top-ranked public land-grant research university, located in Stillwater, OK, approximately 70 miles from the major metropolitan areas of Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Among the most geographically diverse states, Oklahoma has 11 distinct ecological regions and is home to multiple parks, wildlife preserves, and conservation areas. There are thirty-nine recognized tribes in Oklahoma and twenty-five Native American languages are still spoken here. Stillwater is a mid-sized, welcoming city centered around the University, with approximately 50,000 full-time residents. Area highlights include the OSU Botanical Garden and the new McKnight Center for the Performing Arts. Stillwater public schools were recently selected as one of the "100 Best Public-School Systems in America," and the city has excellent affordable housing. Faculty may also live in Oklahoma City or Tulsa.
