Position Overview
The Ohio State University College of Social Work invites applications for three Assistant Clinical Professor positions beginning July 1, 2025. The search committee is seeking candidates who will contribute to the diversity of teaching and service conducted at the college. Clinical faculty are 12-month appointments with a typical workload of 80% teaching (24 credit hours per contract year) and 20% service.
The college is seeking clinical faculty with substantive expertise and experience in these specific content areas:
1. Behavioral health
2. Knowledge or experience working with military/veterans populations
3. Political social work and policy advocacy
A successful candidate will be prepared to be the teaching lead in one of the specific content areas listed above. Candidates should also be motivated to take the lead in implementing new curriculum. Those interested in political social work and policy advocacy will have the opportunity to lead and organize the college’s DC Immersion Experience.
We seek candidates who are committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring students, particularly students from different backgrounds. The college provides innovative teaching options at the BSSW, MSW, and PhD levels including face-to-face, online (a/synchronous), and hybrid methods.

- Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: The successful candidate will demonstrate openness and creativity in embracing diversity of thought and show attentiveness to inclusion in approaches to teaching, mentoring, and outreach efforts.
- Engaged Community Contribution: The successful candidate will actively contribute as a member of the college and university.
Education and Experience Requirements
Required: Master of Social Work (MSW) or doctorate in social work. A minimum of five years of practice experience post-MSW or doctorate upon initial hire. Substantive expertise and experience in these specific content areas: (1) Behavioral health; (2) Knowledge or experience working with military/veterans populations; or (3) Political social work and political advocacy. Candidates are expected to demonstrate mastery of effective, student-centered teaching and must be committed to teaching in-person in Columbus, OH.
Desired: Experience with implementing and leading changes in curriculum is preferred (Note: curriculum includes both explicit/implicit). Professional licensure credentialing or certification in one or more areas of practice is also preferred.

The target salary range is $90,000 to $105,000. annually. The actual salary will fall within this range based on the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, and the unit’s available budget.
