Job Summary: The Assistant Director Athletic Tutoring manages the delivery of tutoring programs for individuals and groups of students. Hires, trains, and supervises staff, graduate, and student tutors. Provides day-to-day management of the Athletic Tutorial Service Program. Collaborates with campus partners and colleagues to develop and implement a comprehensive array of tutorial and supplemental instruction programs and services to support academic success. Develops innovative programming to enhance academic support of University student athletes. Tracks adherence to NCAA, University, and SEC rules. Identifies and implements technology-based services to enhance and expand online offerings and tracking.
Additional Department Summary: Participates in assessment efforts to identify programmatic needs and accountability for program success related to specific learning and operational outcomes, accurately maintains records and data, and develops/implements appropriate and effective marketing and communication strategies.
Handles assigned a caseloads of student-athletes, and is responsible for designing and implementing academic support plans for each student. Administers and evaluates initial diagnostic testing to assess aptitude/cognitive ability, academic achievement, and information processing to address any learning concerns. Makes recommendation for special testing, while providing short-term tutoring and coordination of additional learning support services. Serves as a liaison with The Office of Disability Services and 3rd party testing agencies, while working collaboratively with the various constituents including academic program advisors, faculty/staff, and coaches.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of student learning or academic challenges support experience; OR master's degree and some student learning or academic challenges support experience.
