Job Summary:

The Adjunct Instructor of Applied Chemistry has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, teaching applied chemistry courses to traditional and dual credit high school students. Assigned classes may occur during the day, evening, and/or online with varying teaching locations including on-campus, dual enrollment, and Early College High School. This is an exempt position that reports to LSCPA’s Business and Industrial Technology Department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Three years of demonstrated work experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Work independently in the classroom
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Possess great time management and communication skills

Physical Requirements:
This position requires employees to remain in a stationary position most of the time; move to various locations on campus; move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; and operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Five or more years of demonstrated work experience in a related industry
  • Experience and proficiency in using Blackboard Connect or similar learning management system.
  • Two years of teaching experience in a two-year college or in a university

Salary:

$2,400 per 3 semester credit hour (SCH) course per semester.

Work Hours:

Flexible, part-time; depending upon class schedule.

Lamar State College - Port Arthur, a member of The Texas State University System, is an open-access, comprehensive public two-year college offering quality and affordable instruction leading to associate degrees and a variety of certificates.
