Position Summary:

To provide development, management, strategic direction, and oversight of the execution of Business Affairs’ financial, administrative, procurement, and capital management functions. Responsibilities include budget and financial activities; procurement, and enacts/maintains compliance with all university policies around each function. The position also oversees capital projects fiscal analytics for all university projects.

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position has been designated as essential to the operation of the department, will require reporting to work when the university is officially closed, and is subject to additional hours.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management/administration or related field.
  • Significant experience in financial reporting, budgeting, planning, and forecasting.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, budget management, and financial reporting systems.
  • General understanding of each business line within Business Affairs, or the ability to learn.
  • Interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in standard desktop office applications – word processing, spreadsheet, and database software, preferably Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage multiple functional areas, preferably in facilities, construction, and/or financial operations of a large, varied internal organization with multiple business processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in business.
  • Licensure as a Certified Public Accountant.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Experience in Banner or similar ERP.
  • Substantial supervisory experience.
  • Experience with Commonwealth of Virginia’s financial policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of facilities management operations.

Advertised Pay Range:

Up to $105,000; commensurate with experience.
