Unit Mission Statement:The university’s new Fine and Performing Arts Complex, opening as William & Mary celebrates its Year of the Arts, brings students new opportunities to collaborate and innovate in partnership with world-class theatre, dance, and music faculty.
Inviting spaces for teaching, learning, research, and performance are spread throughout the renovated and expanded Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Hall and the new Music Building, which together comprise the complex. The venues will serve both the campus and regional communities, coming to life in the university’s Arts Quarter.
The growing Arts Quarter also includes the Martha Wren Briggs Center for the Arts, which opened in fall 2024 and serves as the home to the expanded and renovated Muscarelle Museum of Art. The quarter’s existing Andrews Hall is home to the Department of Art & Art History and its Andrews Gallery.
The new Arts Quarter represents a significant step toward fostering a tangible sense of identity and a broad artistic vision at William & Mary, enriching the experiences of our talented students, dedicated faculty and the wider community.
William & Mary’s Office of the Arts invites applicants for the position of Box Office Manager. In this customer service-oriented role, the experienced candidate will oversee Box Office operations for various entertainment venues, ensuring smooth operations during performances and providing leadership to Box Office personnel. The Box Office Manager is responsible for maintaining a well-trained team committed to excellent customer service in addition to the following:
- Providing oversight of cash and credit card handling procedures, overseeing financial reconciliation, preparing reports for all receipts and cash deposits, and actively participating in event settlement
- Assisting with management of Box Office revenue and expense budget
- Directing the work of part-time staff, evaluating performance, and providing training
- Managing recruitment efforts and scheduling of personnel
- Collaborating with the Executive & Artistic Director of the Arts to develop and execute policies related to box office sales
- Managing ticket inventory using appropriate ticketing software
- This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act.
- This position is subject to overtime during high peak times, including evening and weekend hours, and occasional long workdays as directed and approved by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, accounting, communications, arts administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
- Knowledge of accounting/cash management procedures and general business operations
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate reporting of ticket sales using ticketing software systems and applications
- Demonstrated customer service skills with an ability to communicate effectively and resolve problems
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality when handling personal/financial information
- Prior box office/ticketing experience, preferably in a performing arts facility
- Experience with cash handling and cash management procedures, financial accounting and reporting
- Experience with ticketing software including Audience View Campus or University Tickets
- Prior supervisory experience
