Introduce:


The School of Journalism and Communication at Chongqing University has developed a talent cultivation system that integrates undergraduate, master s, doctoral, and postdoctoral levels. In 2004, the school was authorized to offer master s degrees in three sub-disciplines: Journalism, Communication, and Broadcasting and Television Arts. In 2006, it was granted the authority to offer a master s degree in Journalism and Communication. In 2010, the school was approved to offer a master s professional degree in Journalism and Communication. In 2013, it established its own Journalism Law academic direction under the first-level doctoral program in Law. In 2018, the scool set up the academic direction of Social Governance and Public Communication under the first-level doctoral program in Public Administration. In 2019, the school was approved for a first-level doctoral program in Journalism and Communication. In the same year, the Journalism and Communication First-Level Discipline Enhancement Program was included in Chongqing University s Double First-Class discipline construction project. In 2023, it became the first university in Chongqing to establish a postdoctoral research station in Journalism and Communication.


The school is well-resourced with distinctive characteristics in talent training. It has received joint support from the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee s Publicity Department and has co-established the Public Opinion Research Institute with the university s Party Committee s Publicity Department. In 2015, the Journalism program was designated as a distinctive program in Chongqing, and was included in the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance s Higher Education Comprehensive Reform Pilot project for Journalism and the Excellence Plan. In 2016, the school became one of 18 news institutions designated by the All-China Journalists Association for submitting candidates for the China Journalism Awards. In 2017, Journalism and Communication became a key discipline in Chongqing, and the Journalism and Film Arts Professional Group (jointly applied with the School of Film) was approved as a distinctive academic professional group in Chongqing. In 2018, the Disaster Event Integrated Reporting Virtual Simulation Experiment was approved as a national virtual simulation teaching project by the Ministry of Education. In 2019, Journalism was selected as a First-Class Undergraduate Program construction project by the Ministry of Education. In 2020, the Journalism and Communication Innovation Team was approved as a Collaborative Innovation Research Team by Chongqing's universities. In 2021, Broadcasting and Television Journalism was selected as a First-Class Undergraduate Program by the Ministry of Education, achieving full coverage of national first-class programs. In 2022, the discipline was recognized as a key discipline for Intelligent+ Development in Chongqing. In 2024, the Intelligent Communication and International Promotion Laboratory was approved as one of the first batch of Chongqing s key social sciences laboratories. The Institute of Publishing Science was also approved as a national publishing think tank by the National Press and Publication Administration. According to Shanghai Ranking s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, the school s Journalism and Communication discipline ranked 21st nationally in 2024, in the top 17%. In the Ministry of Education s Fifth Discipline Evaluation, the discipline achieved a cross-level upgrade, ranking among the top in the western region.



The school currently has 45 full-time faculty members and 3 laboratory staff, including 12 professors, 17 associate professors, 15 PhD supervisors, and over 30 master s supervisors. Among the faculty, there are 2 national-level young talents, 2 excellent young talents under the Ministry of Education s New Century Talents program, 1 national leader in the news and publishing industry, 2 young innovative talents in broadcasting and audiovisual industries, 1 Chongqing Famous Talent awardee, 1 Chongqing Youth Top Talent, 3 Chongqing Youth Scholars, 5 academic leaders in Chongqing, 4 reserve academic leaders in Chongqing, 1 recipient of the Ministry of Education s Young Backbone Team in College Ideological and Political Work program, 1 Ministry of Education s network education teaching master, and 7 judges for the China Journalism Award and Chang Jiang Taofen Award.



The school has established an advanced, comprehensive multi-media experimental center and a cross-innovation center for students, which includes a media convergence lab, intelligent communication lab, virtual studio for media convergence, photography lab, digital audio lab, media and public opinion survey lab, audiovisual creative communication studio, news commentary studio, brand communication studio, convergent news practice studio, excellent journalism practice studio, and oral history studio. The school has established an integrated industry-university-research cooperation platform and practical training bases with organizations like Xinhua News Agency, People s Daily, China Central Television, China.com, China Science Daily, Tencent, ByteDance, Chongqing Radio and TV Group, Chongqing Daily Group, Chongqing Publishing Group, cqnews.net, rednet.cn, cnhubei.com, cqcb.com, thecover.cn, Western International Communication Center, among others.



In the past five years, the school has been awarded over 100 national and provincial research projects, including major projects under the National Social Science Foundation, National Social Science Key Projects, and Youth Projects. It has also been awarded over 10 provincial-level first-class courses and ideological demonstration courses. The faculty has published nearly 400 papers, including over 200 in CSSCI journals, and more than 100 in high-level academic journals. The school has published over 20 books and received more than 10 provincial-level awards. According to the China Journalism and Communication Education Yearbook and Shanghai Ranking s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects data, the school ranks 13-18th in the number of Ministry of Education evaluated A-level journal papers.


The school emphasizes international exchange and cooperation. In 2009, it established a 2+2 dual-degree program with Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada. In 2011, it signed a 3+1+1 joint degree agreement with Syracuse University s S.I. New house School of Public Communications in the United States. In 2012, it signed an exchange agreement with the School of Communication at Ming Chuan University in Taiwan. In 2013, it signed a student exchange plan with Swinburne University of Technology s Faculty of Life and Social Sciences in Australia. In the same year, it signed a memorandum of understanding for partnership and cooperation with California State University (Fullerton). In 2017, the school signed a joint Master s training agreement with Curtin University s School of Media, Culture, and Creative Arts in Australia. In 2019, it signed a joint Master s training agreement with the School of Communication at Hong Kong Baptist University. In 2020, it signed a joint Master s training agreement with the Department of Media and Communication at City University of Hong Kong. Journalism and Communication (Academic Master s Degree and Professional Master s Degree) graduate students can pursue joint degrees with Curtin University, Hong Kong Baptist University, and City University of Hong Kong.


As a key institution in Journalism and Communication discipline construction and talent cultivation in Southwest China, the School of Journalism and Communication at Chongqing University adheres to its motto of conducting research, cultivating talent, serving the community and promoting social development. It focuses on the development strategy of 1+3+2, with a foundation in the history and theory of Journalism and Communication, prioritizing the development of intelligent communication, audiovisual communication, and international communication. Hongshen Young Teacher Application Requirements: Candidates should be doctoral graduates from other universities who possess an excellent academic background and achievements, have produced high-quality research outcomes, and demonstrate significant potential for innovative development.

  • For the first 3 years, the pre-tax salary of RMB 250,000/year, with additional performance-based rewards. After passing the mid-term assessment, performance-based salary will be implemented according to the professional position standards.

  • Relocation allowance of RMB 200,000;

  • Research start-up funds of RMB 50,000 for humanities and social sciences;

  • During the appointment period, if the candidates are selected for the national postdoctoral innovative talent support plan, salary will be increased during the funding period.Hongshen Young Teachers can independently choose to enter the postdoctoral mobile station. If they enter the postdoctoral mobile station and stay in Chongqing for work after completing the postdoctoral period, an additional subsidy of RMB 150,000 will be provided by the Chongqing municipal government.
