POSITION TITLE: Student Employee, Student Mental Health & Wellness Assistant

STATUS: Part-time

DEPARTMENT: Office of Student Mental Health & Wellness

DIVISION: Student Development

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Mental Health & Wellness

CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

MINIMUM PAY RATE: $15.00 per hour
(Position is FWS Eligible)

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Answer and transfer phone calls and greet clients in person, directing them to appropriate staff members, room, or campus resource.

2. Provide basic information about counseling & wellness services to students seeking information.

3. Maintain cleanliness and order in the waiting room, training room, group room, and relaxation room.

4. Create a friendly and welcoming environment

5. Handle and protect confidential and sensitive data with integrity

6. Assist with outreach initiatives to promote awareness of mental health services on campus.

7. Attend Team meeting as needed

8. Assist with marketing initiatives/social media (Instagram & TikTok).

9. Assist with data collection and data entry

10. Provide support to Director on mental health and wellness student/campus needs

11. Perform related other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. GPA of 2.0 or above.

2. Must be enrolled at JJC in at least 6 credit hours.

3. High School diploma or equivalent.

4. Excellent Customer Service skills.

5. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

7. Attentiveness to detail, excellent organizational skills, initiative, and multitasking.

8. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Willingness to work a flexible schedule.

2. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Ability to kneel, bend, or lift to assist with maintaining shared spaces.

2. Capacity to lift and move light equipment as needed.

3. Walk to different areas around Main campus

WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Office settings

2. Some events are outdoors

Scheduled Weekly Hours: This is a student employee position that works around your class schedule. May work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. During summer and holiday breaks (Winter/Spring), may work up to 28 hours per week with supervisor approval.
