Job OverviewAs one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (COM) has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine’s faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day. The Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff.
The Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences (DEPHS) is the oldest residency in Occupational and Environmental Medicine (OEM) in the USA and seeks a dynamic, creative, and compelling Program Director to expand beyond the Combined Employee Health Center [CEHC] to serve workers and companies beyond the University of Cincinnati [UC] and UC Health. This “Occupational Health Center” (yet to be named) will complement the CEHC that currently provides employee health services to their ~ 30,000 workers and contractors. This position will be a faculty appointment at the University of Cincinnati and the final faculty rank/title will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications.
Essential Functions- The OEM Program Director [PD] will lead development of this outward-facing program. The “Occupational Health Center” [“OHC”] will be a site for medical residents to care for a wider range of pathology and work environments, a platform to advocate for Total Worker Health to external organizations, and additional income from fees, insurance, contracts, and grants. The enterprising leader will influence OEM beyond the residency, local workers and employers, to have regional, national, and even global impact.
- This position will lead and continue to strengthen UC’s longest-in-the-USA OEM residency program as well as lead and foster the advancement of OEM postgraduate education and training programs, and be responsible for recruitment, development, evaluation, and retention of faculty. The PD will promote a productive environment for the enhancement of faculty members’ collaborative practice and research initiatives. The PD will serve as administrative and clinical leader for the OEM Residency Program in the UC Health graduate medical education (GME) office.

- Ohio medical license.
- A master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or similar field (MPH, MS).
- Certification by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
- Eligibility to be certified by the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation.
