Position Summary:
Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a full-time Communications Instructor on our Fond du Lac Campus. This position is responsible for the multiple modality delivery of instruction and facilitation of student learning and providing ongoing development of curriculum, assessment, and learning strategies to meet workforce needs. In addition, will provide regular student support and contact, or refer to the appropriate department, to meet the learner’s classroom and career goals.
The successful candidate will have a Master's Degree in English, Reading Instruction, Journalism, Speech (not drama or theater), Communication, or Literature OR a Master’s Degree in any field/discipline with 18 graduate credits in English, Reading Instruction, Journalism, Speech (not drama or theater), Communication, or Literature.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare for and facilitate learning in the assigned courses according to the College’s core values. Establish a professional and safe learning environment. Set the classroom tone by modeling appropriate workplace skills and behavior. Maintain a positive climate for learning by performing classroom management and being aware of, monitoring, and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct.• Meet student learning needs by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments.• Maintain student confidentiality, records, and documentation as required by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Submit grades within the expected timeframe. • Provide timely verbal and written feedback to the students to ensure continued growth and development.• Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and updating of curriculum.• Assist with student recruitment and proactively promote the College programs and services offered.• Promote retention and student success through the utilization of referrals to College services and resources. • Engage in internal and external College meetings and activities. • Build and maintain ongoing relationships with K-12, Department of Corrections (DOC), community, and industry partners beyond the classroom.• Actively maintain proficient knowledge and skills in emerging trends and current occupational practices. Complete annual professional development activities in areas of Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS) competencies. Complete all required training. • Assist with mentoring faculty. • Maintain equipment and supplies for the classroom and labs, as necessary to support the assigned program area and future trends in industry. Work with the supervisor to identify alternative funding sources, as needed.
Experience & Qualifications (other than those listed above in the position summary):
• Upon hire, must maintain and/or obtain Higher Learning Commission, Faculty Quality Assurance System, and other agency requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.
Desired Qualifications:• Experience working with secondary, post-secondary, and adult learners. • Ability to adapt teaching to multiple modalities including in-person, online, video conferencing (VC), and Teams.Any combination of necessary experience and qualifications which provides desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Other Position Requirements:• Flexible scheduling may be required to include evenings and weekends.• This position may require travel to MPTC (Moraine Park Technical College) campus locations other than the base location, client/contract work sites, and/or Department of Corrections (DOC) institutions. • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Hiring Range: $68,444-$85,556 (178-day faculty contract during the academic year)
